Description: This course provides basic training in the safety and fundamental technical aspects of ammunition and explosives for personnel directly involved in hands-on exposure to ammunition items and/or operations. Course content introduces the characteristics of different classes of ammunition and explosives and safe handling procedures and explosive safety requirements for the receipt, storage, maintenance, demilitarization, and issue of ammunition at U.S. Army installations.

Audience: Production/maintenance personnel who perform repetitive tasks on one item, or items in the same family, personnel handling packaged explosive items during storage or transportation activities by hand or with materials handling equipment (MHE), and administrative personnel requiring familiarization with ammunition.

College Credit: Students who complete this course may be able to receive college-level credit as recommended by ACE. ACEs recommendations for college credit for this course include: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Military Science (5/07).  In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Military Science or Explosives Safety (7/10).
